Monday's Jhajjar rally was an unforgettable moment for 40-year-old Deepak Kumar, a cook of the Nepali origin at BJP state headquarters in Rohtak, when he received hug from BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, for whom he used to cook food back in 1995.

On Monday, Modi had come to the grain market at Jhajjar to seek support of the people for Rohtak Lok Sabha nominee Om Prakash Dhankar. Kumar, who still is a cook at the district party headquarters here, said that he used to cook food for Modi when he was in-charge of Haryana from 1995 to 2000.
"Modiji was very fond of khichri, daliya (porridge) and ghiya ki sabzi and sometimes he used to help me in the kitchen in preparing the dishes," said Kumar, while sharing his past long association with Gujarat chief minister.

He said, when he heard that Modi was coming to Jhajjar to address a rally, he showed his desire to meet him in front of senior party leader Suresh Bhatt, who arranged a special pass for him.

On the kind of reaction by Modi while meeting him, he said, "Modiji took no time in identifying me, and he not only recognised me, after a gap of more than a decade, but also showered his love in spite of being his stature of PM aspirant".

He said that if Modi could remember a cook, he would certainly look after the common man of India.
