SIT lawyer RS Jamuar has criticised Jafri's reliance on the 2002 riots report by Concerned Citizen's Tribunal

The Special Invesitgation Team (SIT) resumed its argument against the protest petition filed by 2002 riots victim Zakia Jafri, on Monday. The SIT lawyer argued before the metropolitan magistrate BJ Ganatra that the complaint filed by Zakia Jafri against Narendra Modi and 61 others was instigating and biased. The lawyer also said the report by the justice Krishna Iyer committee was unreliable.
“If this protest petition is reproduced exactly as it has been filed in two volumes, I have an apprehension that it may again create disturbances in the state...it is so biased and instigating,” SIT lawyer RS Jamuar said.

Jamuar has also criticised Jafri’s reliance on the 2002 riots report by Concerned Citizen’s Tribunal, consisting of three retired justices and headed by retired SC justice VR Krishna Iyer.

“They term the report of tribunal as findings of justice Krishna Iyer. But the justice himself has said that he was in Ahmedabad only for a day. How can these be his findings? It is merely his expressions at best,” said Jamuar.

He also said the report was siding with minorities. “This report is shockingly silent on people who died because of violence by the minority community during the 2002 riots. How can this be a fair report?” said Jamuar.
