RSS candidature indispensable, say Bihar BJP leaders

Patna (Magnificent Bihar): Ever since Nitish Kumar went public with his thoughts about the RSS and BJP, the BJP leaders from the state were continuously pulling their hair out on this issue. Nitish had said “JD(U) has had a long standing alliance with the BJP and not the RSS, we have nothing to do with RSS”. While the statement drew criticism from all over the country, it did spark a few counter attacks from Nitish’s own den.

Giriraj Singh, the state Animal Husbandry and Fishery minister reacted in his own peculiar way and said that he was first a volunteer and cadre of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and only after that a worker and member of BJP. While he did explain that for him RSS means more than BJP or anything else, he did refuse to comment on Kumar’s earlier statement about RSS. “The RSS is my mother organization and I am proud to be associated with it, I have been a volunteer for RSS ever since I started my political career and I won’t sit down and take anyone’s negative comments on my Sangh,” Singh said.

While on the other hand Janardan Singh Sigriwal, minister, Labour Resources Department of Bihar said that he was a born Swayam Sevak of RSS. I am a worker of BJP and I will continue to be so till I wish or the party wishes, however, on the other hand the candidature of RSS is indispensible. “Once you become a member of RSS, there is no turning back, the RSS provides lifetime membership to its swayam sevaks,” said Sigriwal.

BJP’s national general secretary and chief spokesman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that being a member of RSS is a matter of choice for the members of BJP, however no one denies the membership to it, it shows that the RSS is a strong unit.

On the other hand state health minister Ashwini Kumar Chaubey went ahead a notch and said that he has got his his cultural heritage and upbringing from his father and Mother but the true purpose of nationalism was infused in him by the RSS.” In a way I was being guided and corrected like a child is by his guardians, hence the Sangh means more to me than anything else”.
