Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has exuded confidence that
India will become a super economic power in the near future if the
people vote for good leaders in the coming elections and opined that the
criminals have joined politics. The Indian society has discouraged good
people to enter politics in the past 40 years.
He urged the people to renounce materialism and embrace the Sanatna Dharma to lead a happy life. Delivering a lecture on ‘Emerging political trends in India’ organised here on Sunday by the Rotary Club Mid Town, Swamy said that the country was facing some dangerous trends. They were increase in corruption, insurgency especially from Bangladesh in North-East states, and materialism induced by globalisation.
The healthy trends are demographic change which has made India a country a ‘youthful’ country with more younger population and deepening of the democratic system. Elaborating on corruption in the country, Swamy said that there was a scam every day. He said black money worth Rs 70 lakh crore was stashed away in foreign banks and added that even Sonia Gandhi had Rs 1 lakh crore in foreign banks.
“If we get back the entire black money from foreign banks, the people of this country need not pay taxes for another 14 to 15 years,” he said.
Saying that corruption had become institutionalised and percolated to the judiciary, he said that the government had been virtually mortgaged by vested interests.
He, however, hoped that corruption would disappear soon and also hoped that the black money deposited in foreign banks would return to the country if the people voted against the corrupt politicians.
Saying that the country need a leader with strong will, he said our Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a lion only in a circus ring and he does not have the guts to take any action on infiltration and other serious issues.
Speaking on the influence of the Western countries on the country in the era of globalisation, he opined that this was also causing crime against women and asked the people to stick to sanatana dharma.
Rotary Club of Mid Town president, M Satish Babu and secretary RV Subba Rao were present.
