CM urged to withdraw communal violence, terrorism cases against Muslim youth

Bangalore, Jul 5: A group of Congress leaders belonging to Muslim community have urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take necessary steps to withdraw cases slapped against the Muslim youth accused of being involved in communal clashes in Mysore, Hassan and Shimoga years ago.

About 439 cases were booked against people belonging to the minority community in connection with the communal clashes in Mysore in 2009. Similarly, about 149 cases in Hassan and 130 cases in Shimoga were booked related to the communal flare-up in 2010.

Stating most of these cases were false and politically motivated, they urged the government to provide justice to youths.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Muslim leaders from Tamil Nadu, led by MLA Aslam Basha, met Siddaramaiah on Thursday to urge him to withdraw cases filed against 13 youths accused of being involved in the April Malleswaram bomb blast in Bangalore.

The delegation is learnt to have told him that the 13 accused hail from Tamil Nadu and do not have any connection with the incident.
